Dem Congressman Gets Dressed Down After Accusing Republican Of "Calling The Koch Brothers"

Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA) was chewed out by Rep. Ed Whitfield (R-KY) at a House committee hearing on the Keystone XL Pipeline.

Waxman, who cited "Koch brothers" and asked for them to be subpoenaed numerous times during the hearing apparently spoke longer than his allotted time. When Rep. Whitfield, the committee chairman, called on Waxman to stop he would not relent.

Things got real heated when Whitfield called for a brief recess. Waxman asked if he was going to call the Koch brothers during the recess. Whitfield dressed him down in his response.

"Let me tell you something, if you want to talk about that less talk about the millions of dollars that the Obama administration gave companies like Solyndra to people like George Kaiser who is out there bundling money for the president. Would you like for us to subpoena him too?," Whitfield told Waxman during their combative conversation.

Transcript below.

Rep. Ed Whitfield: The gentleman's time has expired. I would also tell the gentleman that we would certainly accept the letter and we will follow the rules, but we are not going to be subpoenaing the Koch brothers and we are not asking the Koch brothers to appear because the brothers have nothing to do with this project. At this time I would like to --

Rep. Henry Waxman: A point of order, you have made a statement where you were not recognized for your time. You cut me out in the middle of a sentence. I would like to know the substantiation --

Whitfield: Your time was up, Mr. taxman. Now, we're going to recess this hearing for ten minutes and then come back.

Waxman: A you calling the pope brothers during recess?

Whitfield: Let me tell you something, if you want to talk about that less talk about the millions of dollars that the Obama administration gave companies like Solyndra to people like George Kaiser who is out there bundling money for the president. Would you like for us to subpoena him too?

Waxman: Why are you interrupting members and then you take unlimited time for yourself?

Whitfield: I'm responding to your questions, your allegations. I’m the chairman. And I’m telling you right now we’re going to recess for ten minutes.
