Debbie Wasserman Schultz: Obama "Focused Like A Laser" On Jobs

DNC Chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) talks to NBC News' Andrea Mitchell about Democrats and Obama wanting to get people back to work and

Andrea Mitchell: The NBC/WSJ poll is all upside down. Only 44% approve, 51% disapprove.

Schultz: "Well, we're not focused on poll. I mean, we're a year away from an election. The president is focused like a laser on passing the American Jobs Act, on making sure we put people back to work. We need some help from Republicans. The sad thing is that Mitt Romney and the rest of the Republican field care about one job -- Barack Obama's.

And Democrats and President Obama care about American jobs and putting everyone back to work. We need the Republicans to work with us, but if they won't work with us then President Obama will move the economy forward on his own. He knows that we can't wait. He's been signing executive orders to be able to help people work out mortgages and remain into their homes.

"He's not going to stand by and let the Republicans watch this economy -- contribute to this economy stagnating, cross their arms, and refuse to help move America forward," she said.
