Carney: Obama's Executive Orders "Within Bounds Of His Authority"

ABC's Jake Tapper asked White House press secretary Jay Carney for a reaction to Speaker John Boehner saying he is "keeping a very close eye" on the president due to his recent executive orders. Boehner told radio talk show host Laura Ingraham he wants to make sure President Obama is not doing unconstitutional actions.

Carney says Obama is "operating well within the bounds of his authority" and is using the unilateral action of the executive order to help "grow the economy" and "create jobs" since Congress will not pass his jobs bill.

"Well, first of all, the president is operating well within the bounds of his authority and in a way that is consistent with the kinds of executive actions that presidents have taken in previous administrations, presidents of both parties," Mr. Carney said. "I would respectfully suggest to the speaker that perhaps they -- he should and the House should focus on what the American people are insisting that Washington in general focus on, which is the need to grow the economy and create jobs."
