Axelrod On Oil Spill: "We're At A Kind Of Inflection Point In This Saga"

David Axelrod on reaction to the oil spill: “We're at a kind of inflection point in this saga, because we now know -- what we can do and what we can't do in terms of collecting oil, and what lies ahead in the next few months. And he wants to lay out the steps that we’re going to take from here to get through this crisis.”

White House adviser David Axelrod says Obama will address the nation about the disaster after he returns from a visit to the region on Monday and Tuesday. He will make an address from the Oval Office on Tuesday night.

Axelrod tells NBC's "Meet the Press" that the president will lay out steps that the government will take to cope with the fallout from the spill.

Axelrod says the administration believes BP has the material to cleanup this mess. "We believe that BP has the resources to meet the claims and we're gonna make sure that they do," Axelrod said.

Axelrod wouldn't discuss how much BP should pay.
