Hastert's son to run for House

The Kane County Chronicle is reporting that Ethan Hastert, son of former GOP House Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.) will seek his father's old congressional seat.

Hastert, a 31-year-old attorney, told the Chronicle, “Generally, what I’ve been hearing is that people are not happy, not satisfied with our current leadership in Washington,” he said. “Quite frankly, people are ready for the next generation of leadership.”

Democratic incumbent Bill Foster won the seat in a low turnout March 2008 special election to replace Hastert and then won the full term with 58 percent in November.

A once-reliably Republican district just outside the Chicago metropolitan orbit, the 14th District gave 55 percent to George W. Bush in 2004. Four years later, it delivered 55 percent to Barack Obama.
