Putting pressure on Burris

Sen. Roland Burris (D-Ill.) isn’t making many friends during his stint in Washington, not even among his putative allies.

One of his allies, Rep. Danny Davis (D-Ill.), told Chicago Public Radio today that Burris should stop playing coy about whether he’s running for election or not.

“I'm hoping that the senator will hurry up and publicly let people know whether he intends to run for election,” Davis said in the interview.

Davis, who is African-American, was one of Burris’ leading defenders during the controversy over his seating. But he also has been mulling over a Senate campaign of his own, and Burris’ plans would be a major factor in his decision whether to run.
