Clinton supporters to play hardball?

From the New York Daily News:

MSNBC "Hardball" yacker Chris Matthews can expect a few whacks from vengeful Hillary Clinton fans if he jumps into Pennsylvania's Senate contest, sources told the Daily News.

Many in Camp Clinton are still steamed at the blustery Matthews for what they thought was the unfair — even sexist — treatment he gave her during her Democratic White House run.

"If Matthews runs, supporters of Hillary Clinton will just go insane," said a Democrat familiar with Pennsylvania politics.

"Clinton staffers would flock to the state to beat him," said a former aide. "They wouldn't even want to get paid. ... It would be like a volunteer army."

Matthews has stood by his commentary.

"Chris Matthews certainly did not make many friends in the Hillary Clinton campaign," said Mark Nevins, a strategist with the Dover Group and Clinton spokesman in the Keystone State.
