NRSC up with first ad this election

The National Republican Senatorial Committee is up with its first ad of this election cycle – in New Hampshire on behalf of vulnerable first-term senator John Sununu.

The ad attacks Sununu’s Democratic opponent, Jeanne Shaheen, for increasing the state budget during her governorship. It’s airing on WMUR-TV, New Hampshire’s lone broadcast affiliate.

“As governor, Jeanne Shaheen doubled state spending. Shaheen increased the state budget by a billion dollars. That’s billion with a b. Jeanne Shaheen and big-spending Washington, she’d fit right in,” the ad says.

For its part, the DSCC also unveiled its own ad today, tying Sununu with President Bush and accusing him of voting “to cut Medicare for 200,000 seniors, veterans and disabled in New Hampshire.”
