Hockey or the economy?

Several of Sen. Norm Coleman’s (R-Minn.) campaign ads have featured a bowler reminding voters that Coleman built the arena to lure a National Hockey League team to St. Paul.

Now the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee is fighting back, with a new ad claiming that Coleman is more concerned about hockey than the domestic concerns on the minds of Minnesotans.

“Norm Coleman talks about bringing hockey back to Minnesota? How about bringing good jobs back?” one man says in the ad.

"I wish someone would bring the economy back," another voter says.

“Bringing my friends back from Iraq,” another says.

Coleman is running in a closely-watched contest against Democrat Al Franken.  Early in the campaign, Franken struggled to deal with revelations of past, lewd writings, but his campaign has been back on the offensive lately and regained the lead in one public poll.
