EMILY's List endorses Kryzan

The Democratic group, which endorses female candidates who support abortion rights, made it official: it's supporting attorney Alice Kryzan, who won a stunning primary upset against two better-funded challengers in the district of retiring Rep. Tom Reynolds (R-N.Y.).

EMILY's List did not endorse Kryzan in the Democratic primary when she faced an opponent who was endorsed by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

She will be facing Republican businessman Christopher Lee, who has the ability to self-finance his campaign.

From the group's statement:

From the beginning of her campaign, Kryzan has proven her strength of character and independent voice by sticking to the issues that matter most. An advocate for education, Kryzan believes that a college education should be more affordable and is committed to increasing the maximum for Pell Grants, and creating new tuition tax credits. She will work to reverse the failed mandates of No Child Left Behind and let teachers teach and give schools the ability to address the needs of their students. Her record proves that she will also be a champion for women when she goes to Congress, where she will continue to work to protect women’s health and improve the lives of women and families across the district.
