Dole-Hagan race continues to center on oil

The debate over energy policy and the high price of gas continues to dominate the North Carolina Senate race. The DSCC’s latest ad attacks Sen. Elizabeth Dole (R-N.C.) for receiving campaign money from oil companies while voting to give them tax breaks.

The ad features two older men, who also appeared in an earlier DSCC ad attacking Dole for her lack of clout in the Senate.

“We pay high gas; Liddy gets oil money,” one man says in the ad.

Dole, meanwhile, has accused her opponent, state senator Kay Hagan of opposing offshore drilling and personally profiting from high gas prices. Hagan has since backed away from prior opposition to offshore drilling, and now supports drilling as part of a comprehensive energy plan.
