DCCC outraises NRCC in August

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee continues to maintain a substantial fundraising advantage over its Republican counterpart and has already begun to spending much of its sizable warchest.

The DCCC raised $5.1 million in August, ending the month with $54 million in the bank. The committee spent $7.6 million, much of it on advertising and direct mail attacking Republican candidates in the key states of Pennsylvania, Ohio, Texas and New Mexico.

The National Republican Congressional Campaign Committee ended the month with only $14.3 million on hand and has been much more sparing in its early advertising. The committee raised $3.4 million in August and spent $3.3 million.
