NRCC up with first ad buy

The National Republican Congressional Committee is up with its first ad this election cycle, helping fund businessman Chris Hackett’s first advertisements against Rep. Chris Carney (D-Pa.)

The biographical ads portray Hackett as a successful businessman and fighter against wasteful spending. They are also the first ads that Hackett has aired since winning the GOP primary.

“What’s happening in Washington today is downright tragic. We send our tax dollars to Congress and the politicians waste it on pork spending projects, “Hackett says in one of the ads. “And with gas prices killing us, the politicians are doing nothing to get us off foreign oil.”

The NRCC is contributing to one of the ads as part of its coordinated expenditures with the Hackett campaign. The Republican-leaning northeastern Pennsylvania district, which gave President Bush 60 percent of the vote in 2004, is one of party’s top targets.
