Dem Leaders Traveling Too

It's not just Republicans and Rahm Emanuel who are hitting the trail this August. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Majority Leader Steny Hoyer and DCCC Chairman Chris Van Hollen are taking trips in coming weeks as well, racking up frequent flier miles ahead of a return to Washington.

Pelosi will campaign with Miami-Dade County Democratic Chairman Joe Garcia, who is taking on Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart in Florida before heading up to Michigan to stump for State Senator Mark Schauer and former state Lottery Commissioner Gary Peters, each of whom are taking on Republican incumbents. Other campaign events are planned, but have yet to be announced, in Colorado, Maryland, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania.

Hoyer is taking a western swing next week, holding events with challengers Walt Minnick in Idaho, and Darcy Burner in Washington. While in the Pacific Northwest, Hoyer is also hosting a fundraiser for Alaska candidate Ethan Berkowitz. Later, Hoyer has an event set with California Rep. Lucille Roybal-Allard before campaigning with Nevada challengers Jill Derby and Dina Titus.

The Majority Leader is looking ahead at another western trip through Oregon, Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona in the first week of September.

Van Hollen is spending most of his time fundraising during August, though he will stop in Missouri's Ninth District for a fundraiser with State Rep. Judy Baker, who is running for an open seat held by Republican Kenny Hulshof.
