Barletta's first ad focuses on change

Change is the operative message in GOP candidate Lou Barletta’s first campaign advertisement against Rep. Paul Kanjorski (D-Pa.)

The Hazleton mayor uses the word “change” four times in the 30-second spot, ending by telling voters that “change is on the way.”

“We can’t change Washington unless we change the people we send there. If we keep sending the same people, we’ll keep getting the same results,” Barletta says in the ad. “America wants change, and ladies and gentlemen, change is on the way!”

Republicans view this race in northeastern Pennsylvania as one of their best pickup opportunities. Rep. Paul Kanjorski (D-Pa.) has been trailing his Republican rival in several public polls.

Kanjorski and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee have already been airing ads for several weeks — a sign they’re taking Barletta’s challenge very seriously.
