Idaho Treasurer Ron Crane is getting behind Rick Santorum in the race for the Republican presidential nomination.

Crane made his endorsement official Tuesday night during Santorum's campaign rally in Boise.

Crane says he backs Santorum's plan to fix the economy, balancing the budget getting the country back to work. But Crane also stressed Santorum's emphasis on family values and religious faith.

Santorum's appearance in Boise was his second campaign stop in Idaho. Earlier Tuesday, the former Pennsylvania Senator spoke to more than 400 supporters in Coeur d'Alene.

Crane is the first high ranking elected Idaho official to support Santorum.

Other Idaho officials, including Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter and Sens. Mike Crapo and Jim Risch, have endorsed former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney in advance of the GOP's caucus March 6.
