Blake Farenthold (R-27th District)
About: Bad fashion sense didn't derail Farenthold's bid to upset 28-year incumbent Congressman Solomon Ortiz. Despite photos surfacing showing Farenthold in blue pajamas festooned with yellow ducks and clutching a scantily clad blonde at a party, Farenthold became the first Republican ever elected to this 71 percent Hispanic district. Farenthold, a conservative talk radio show co-host (whose grandmother was nearly George McGovern's running mate in 1972), will face a tough battle for re-election. He will serve on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.
Blake Farenthold (R): 47.9%
Solomon Ortiz (D): 47.1%
