About: A small business owner, Southerland has never held elected office. However, he was appointed by former Governor Jeb Bush to serve as chairman of the Early Learning Coalition of Northwest Florida. He will have a seat on the Agriculture Committee in the new Congress.

Daniel Webster (R-8th District)
About: Webster, a veteran of Florida politics who has served as both speaker of the Florida House of Representatives and state Senate majority leader, won convincingly after a fierce campaign in which his opponent labeled him "Taliban Dan" in a widely criticized ad. He will serve on the House Transportation Committee.

Dennis Ross (R-12th District)
About: Lawyer Dennis Ross succeeded Adam Putnam in the Florida House of Representatives in 2000 when Putnam was elected to the U.S. House. Ross will again succeed Putnam – who is leaving to serve as Florida’s commissioner of agriculture – when he takes his seat in Congress this week. He will serve on the Oversight and Government Reform Committee.

Frederica Wilson (D-17th District)
About: After serving four years in the Florida House of Representatives and nine years in the Florida State Senate, Wilson bested a nine person field in the Democratic primary to fill the seat vacated by Kendrick Meek, who ran unsuccessfully for Senate.

Allen West (R-22nd District)
About: West, a retired lieutenant colonel in the United States Army, ran and won one of the most high profile races in the country, knocking off Democrat Ron Klein in a rematch of their 2008 race. West becomes the first African-American GOP congressman from Florida since 1876 and joins South Carolina’s Tim Scott as one of two black GOP congressmen elected this year. West has been appointed to serve on the House Armed Services Committee and the Small Business Committee.

Sandy Adams (R-24th District)
About: A former deputy sheriff in Orange County, Adams was elected to the Florida House in 2002. She has been appointed to sit on the House Judiciary Committee.

David Rivera (R-25th District)
About: Rivera served four terms in the Florida House of Representatives but jumped into the race for the 25th District when Republican incumbent Mario Diaz-Balart announced he would switch and run for his retiring brother’s seat in the 21st District. Rivera will serve on the Natural Resources Committee and the Foreign Affairs Committee.
