About: Carney served eight years as Delaware’s lieutenant governor before running for governor in 2008. He lost in the Democratic primary to Jack Markell, the current governor of Delaware. In the U.S. House, he will fill the seat vacated by retiring Republican Mike Castle, who lost in the Republican senatorial primary.
