New Research Firm Picks Up Huntsman as Top Client

New Research Firm Picks Up Huntsman as Top Client

By Erin McPike - June 23, 2011

Two veteran Republican researchers from Meg Whitman's gubernatorial campaign last year in California have launched a new consulting shop and will work with Jon Huntsman's presidential campaign.

Shawn Reinschmiedt and Dan Comstock will announce today the formation of M Street Insight, which they say will focus on "political and corporate intelligence." They already have one big "get" in tow -- Huntsman, who announced his candidacy Tuesday -- and they have begun to do research for Indiana Republican Sen. Dick Lugar's re-election campaign, as well.

The duo intends to work for clients from coast to coast; Comstock is based in San Diego and Reinschmiedt will work from Washington.

The firm adds more heft to Huntsman's team, too. Reinschmiedt is among the most respected researchers for the party and held the coveted research director position for the Republican National Committee during the 2008 election cycle, where he oversaw a team of more than 25. He is a Texan and an attorney by training. Comstock was most recently Whitman's research director, and he logged time at the National Republican Senatorial Committee's research shop after conducting vulnerability studies and research on potential vice presidential candidates for the RNC and for John McCain's presidential campaigns.
