Trump to Write Policy Book

Trump to Write Policy Book

By Scott Conroy - May 12, 2011

Reality TV star and real estate mogul Donald Trump is working on a policy book, which Regnery Publishing will release in conjunction with his potential presidential campaign, RCP has learned.

Regnery intends to place the book on a crash schedule, and it is tentatively set for a late-summer release date.

The book does not yet have a working title.

Designed to add some intellectual heft to Trump's light political resume, the book will lay out the New York City businessman's policy prescriptions for the country.

Trump has contributed to well over a dozen previous books, but his latest tome is unlikely to echo his pro-choice stance and advocacy for a universal health care system and a one-time luxury tax on the wealthy, which he promoted in his 2000 book, "The America We Deserve."

Washington-based Regnery has published several No. 1 best-sellers penned by high-profile conservative firebrands, including Michelle Malkin, Laura Ingraham and David Limbaugh.

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, a potential rival to Trump for the Republican nomination, has also had his books published by Regnery.

Regnery's executive editor, Harry Crawford, has been tapped to take the lead in editing Trump's new work, which will be heavily ghostwritten, with Trump playing a supporting role in generating content.

Trump has said that he will announce his decision on whether to seek the GOP presidential nomination after the May 22 season finale of his NBC reality show, "The Celebrity Apprentice."
