DNC Launches National Cable Ad to Kick Off Election Season

The Democratic National Committee will launch a national TV ad on cable stations today designed to drive home the party's message about the choice voters have in this year's midterm elections.

According to a DNC official, Vice President Joe Biden and DNC Chairman Tim Kaine will close the DNC's summer meeting in St. Louis today by outlining the choice message with the launch of the new ad.

"Do we continue to move forward like the Democrats are doing?" an announcer asks over stock footage of farmland, factories and a classroom. "Investing in education for every child, manufacturing right here at home, clean energy powering a new economy. Do we put Main Street ahead of Wall Street; do we hold big business accountable when they've gone too far?"

Not a single Democratic lawmaker appears in the ad, and there is no mention of President Obama, who won't be on any ballots this year. A teacher and a masked factory worker make brief cameos in the ad, but the only recognizable individual in the spot is President Bush, who says, "You can't get fooled again."
