Civility, Perhaps Not a Lost Cause?

JUL 15, 2019 - If you feel that civility in this country leaves much to be desired, you're not alone. A recent poll found that 93 percent of respondents felt the same way, and that — another shocker — social media deserves much of the blame.The survey was conducted by KRC Research for the Washington, D.C.-based public affairs agency Weber Shandwick and Powell Tate, which has tracked the state of civility in the United States since 2010.Sixty-eight percent of those polled this year said they viewed incivility as a major problem. Social media plays a large role — 63 percent of Americans said its impact on civility had been more negative than positive.That feeling is shared regardless of race, gender or generation.
