Martin O'Malley, the Dems' Fallback?

Martin O'Malley, Democratic candidate for president, is standing precariously atop a small wooden chair in the back of Diggers Rest Coffeehouse in Burlington, Iowa. It's a blisteringly hot July morning, yet the former Maryland governor—with his crisp gray hair, cornflower-blue tie, and spotless white dress shirt (sleeves rolled up, of course)—looks as fresh as iced tea as he bounces on his toes, beams at the two-dozen assembled voters, and starts rolling through his stump speech.
