In Time, Oklahoma's Dark Skies Will Give Way to Light

MEMORIAL Day 1995: Oklahomans gathered to honor the glorious dead from long-ago military campaigns or the dearly departed from their own families. In and around Oklahoma City, the cemeteries were awash in flowers. There were an unusual number of new graves. Some of them held children.

Memorial Day 1999: Those assembled at cemeteries around Moore and Midwest City paused to remember relatives who were long entombed. At the edges there were an unusual number of new graves, islands of red dirt in seas of green.
