As Obama Goes in VA, So Goes the Senate Seat

Precisely four seconds after Sen. Jim Webb announced he would not run for re-election next year, the spotlight fell on former Gov. Tim Kaine. Would the chairman of the Democratic National Committee run for the seat? Kaine has spoken with President Barack Obama, who said he would be a great senator. Kaine and Obama are pals. The Virginian was the first governor outside Illinois to endorse Obama's 2008 candidacy. Ranking Republicans consider Kaine a formidable presence. Last week a DNC official said Kaine seems in no hurry to reveal his plans.
