Gov. Rendell: Plotting a Democratic Comeback

Two days after Tuesday's surprising primaries in Pennsylvania and elsewhere, Ed Rendell slides into a seat on his "Government on Wheels" bus and ponders the outlook for Democrats heading into the midterms later this year.

The Pennsylvania governor's vaunted political machine failed to get the votes out for Arlen Specter, the party-switching incumbent who went down to insurgent Rep. Joe Sestak in the Senate primary. The retired admiral ignored Mr. Rendell and the White House, and handily beat the 80-year-old.
