NRCC Ad Mocks MSNBC's Maddow In Push For Obama To Approve Pipeline

The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) announced today an online video challenging President Obama to act on the Keystone XL Pipeline project.

The NRCC writes: Even with bipartisan support and the backing of labor unions, Obama is playing politics with the future of many struggling American families looking for job creation and energy independence.

The ad features an actress mocking Rachel Maddow's "Lean Forward" ad for MSNBC where she stands in front of the Hoover Dam, demanding U.S. infrastructure jobs.

The actress in the NRCC's parody ad, titled "Lean Backwards," uses Maddow's own rhetoric to push for approval of the Keystone Pipeline to be built. The actress also appears in front of the Dam. Transcript of the ad is below.

ACTRESS: When you are this close to Hoover Dam, it makes you realize how small a human is in relation to this as a human project.

You can’t be the state who builds this – you can’t even be the town who builds this – but you can be the guy who stops something like this.

This is an energy infrastructure project. It’s got national significance.

We’ve got a project like this waiting for the President’s go ahead – supported by Republicans and Democrats, labor unions. It’d provide energy security and up to 130,000 jobs.

We’ve got to figure out why the President thinks we’re not a country that can think this big.
