Lawrence Kudlow, CNBC: "Mr. Romney said at the debate the other night that he favored the bank bailout, the Wall Street bailout, and the TARP bailout. I want to ask you two things, Governor. Number one, do you agree? Did you favor the bank bailout TARP and the Wall Street bailout? And especially the second point. If Europe goes down and if they ask for the United States to help, either with direct assistance or indirectly through the IMF lending program, would you favor United States help for European crisis?"

Gov. Rick Perry: "I wrote a letter, along with the Democrat Governor Chairman at that particular point and time asking Washington to act. What I meant by acting was to cut the regulatory burden and the tax burden so that businessmen and women would know there was going to be an environment in this country where you could risk your capital and have a chance to have a return on the investment. Not on bailing out Wall Street. Let me tell you, if you're too big to fail, you're too big. And that goes for Europe. I mean, I don't think any of those countries -- and certainly any company in America is too big to fail. We need to have responsible spending in this country, and the Europeans need to understand that just as well. America is not here to bail out people who make bad economic decisions. It don't make any difference whether if you're on Wall Street, whether you're General Motors, or for that matter, whether you're the country of Greece. You make bad decisions, you're going to have to live with them."
