Joan Walsh: Elitist Decision Makers Are Cut Off From Reality
This is from Joan's Friday evening appearance on HBO's "Real Time" with Bill Maher:
WALSH: "I also feel that part of our political problem right now is now is that people who talk about and make decisions, people like us, are so cut off from the lives of the average Americans who are not going to fancy restaurants, who are not being picked up in town cars. The Pew foundation did a study that showed Washington [state], Washington has a very low unemployment rating as it turns out. There is black poverty in certain neighborhoods. But the rest of them, as it turns out, Washington is doing great. They can't find people to fill jobs. And so, those people go around in their little bubble and don't know that anyone is suffering?"
