Gibbs Previews Obama's Address: No Jones Act, No Answer On Cap & Trade
White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs says the President "will address the biggest natural disaster" in US history.
Gibbs says the President will discuss the leak, how to address the economic crisis, reform regulatory framework to make sure this doesn't happen again and call upon the country for a plan to get off of foreign and domestic oil. He will talk about investing in wind and solar technology.
Gibbs says Gov. Bobby Jindal (R-LA) is not defying the administration, despite reports. "We are helping him," Gibbs said.
As for the costs, Gibbs says BP is paying for it based on the administration's direction.
On the Jones act, Gibbs said President Obama will not address that because "no offers from foreigners" have been made.
Gibbs would not answer if the President's Oval Office address is a precursor to cap and trade.
