CBS "Evening News" Leads With "Frustration" At President, Economy
The lead story on CBS' "Evening News" tonight was American dissatisfaction with the President and his economic policies. In a new CBS News poll, 61% say America is on the wrong track. Fifty-percent believe the future will be worse for the next generation. CBS' poll also shows President Obama's approval rating at 47%. CBS' Anthony Mason reports on how the average American is reacting to Obama's economic policies. "I think the country is heading in the wrong direction," one person said. "It seems like you work harder to make less money," says another. A small business owner has a sign that says "Honk If You're Fed Up." "A new CBS News poll finds Americans increasingly dissatisfied with Washington and the way Congress and the President have responded to the economic crisis," Mason says. CBS reports six in ten think the country is headed in the wrong direction. CBS reports only 13% believe Obama's economic programs have helped them while 68% say they have not. "I don't think people buying more stuff is going to translate into more jobs," says a small business owner. In comparison, ABC and NBC led with the Gulf Coast oil spill.
