McConnell Lectures on Senate Readings
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) lectured his colleagues on how the Senate traditionally stops the reading of legislation in the chamber. This came after Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) demanded that the Senate stop reading his amendment to the health care bill. The reading had been asked for by Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK). A reading can only be stopped by unanamious consent or by the senator requesting the reading.
