Sotomayor Regrets "Wise Latina Woman" Remark
Bloomberg: Judge Sonia Sotomayor said she was sorry for causing offense with her “wise Latina woman” comments, as a Republican on the Senate panel considering her U.S. Supreme Court nomination came close to endorsing her. “I regret that I have offended some people,” Sotomayor told Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina. “I believe that my life demonstrates that that was not my intent to leave the impression that some have taken from my words.” Graham, a Republican who has criticized her comments, interrupted the nominee. “You know what, judge, I agree with you,” he said. “Good luck.”
