Flashback: Obama Calls Roberts "Qualified," But Can't Vote For Him

In 2005, then-Senator Barack Obama made a floor speech concerning the confirmation of now Chief Justice John Roberts. Obama said Roberts was "qualified" and an "outstanding legal figure," but could not vote for him because he did not think he could represent all "ideological stripes."
