Sebelius Speaking At Convention

The Kansas City Star reports today that Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill and Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius, both outspoken supporters of Barack Obama, will speak at the upcoming Democratic convention. The timing of McCaskill's speech is known -- opening day, along with Michelle Obama and Speaker Nancy Pelosi -- but Sebelius's slot was not. Could this be a sign that the governor could be speaking in the VP slot?

NBC's First Read notes today that the fact that Wednesday, the day the VP nominee is expected to speak, has a "security" theme could be a hint that fellow governors Sebelius and Tim Kaine are no longer in the running. Both lack foreign policy experience. One person who doesn't lack experience and whom we haven't heard from lately...Delaware Sen. Joe Biden.

BLAKE ADDS: First Read also asks a good question regarding Mark Warner's keynote address:

And by the way, doesn't this bode ill for Tim Kaine's veep chances? It's hard to imagine there would be Virginians on two straight nights dominating prime time.

It would be hard to imagine, unless the Obama folks really, really want to win Virginia.
