Rudy: What About Hillary?
Appearing on "This Week" Rudy Giuliani gave us a preview of what the GOP attack line is going to be:
"The strong choice would have been Hillary Clinton. The obvious choice would have been Hillary Clinton," said Giuliani, who had sought the Republican nomination before dropping out early in the race...."You almost have to go to extraordinary lengths to avoid her as the vice presidential pick of the party," Giuliani said on ABC's "This Week with George Stephanopoulos". "And it seems to me that for whatever reason that hasn't been explained, a choice was made out of weakness than strength."
Actually, it's not much of a preview as it is just what the GOP is doing right now. Consider this new McCain ad:
Obviously, this is aimed at firing up Clintonite passions. Will it work or might it backfire? So far the polls say that Hillary supporters aren't sold on Obama. Which means that this week's Convention has a very obvious goal: Unite the party. Check back after Hillary's Wednesday night speech.
