Bloomberg: Nobody's Choice

From New York Daily News:

I've been saying all along that I'm not going to be the choice of either - any of the three candidates for president as their vice president and I understand that and that's fine," Bloomberg said, including independent candidate Ralph Nader among major contenders for the White House.

He was responding to a comment Sen. John McCain made to the Weekly Standard that Bloomberg would not be palatable as a No. 2 to the GOP base because he "is pro-gay rights, pro, you know a number of other issues" that would rankle conservatives.

"I don't know what the other issues are," Bloomberg said, but added that gay rights and abortion rights should not be political issues.

Bloomberg, like Chuck Hagel perhaps, has hurt his national ambitions by holding too many differing positions. While Independents might like that kind of politician, it doesn't wear well with political parties, which require some degree of adherence -- and loyalty.
