Biden Topping Lists
First Read gets today's VP buzz down succinctly: "All the buzz seems to be pointing in Biden's direction right now." Not only was Biden profiled in the Times today (see below) but some other media outlets are now saying he's the frontrunner.
CNN's Political Ticker says that when Biden returns today from his two-day trip to Georgia, "vice presidential speculation will rest squarely on him".
This appears to be a fairly abrupt and unprovoked momentum move in Biden's direction. What do we know now that we didn't know last week when Biden wasn't getting this must attention? CNN's explanation: "The longtime Delaware senator and former presidential candidate has long been considered to be on the shortlist for Barack Obama's running mate, but his quickly-planned trip to Georgia Saturday night at the behest of that country's president left Washington buzzing he is the most likely choice."

BLAKE ADDS: Jake Tapper also sees Biden as topping the list too:
Here's how the veepstakes stand at the moment:Sen. Joe Biden: He is probably the favorite right now, "which means he's not going to get it," ABC News' chief Washington correspondent George Stephanopoulos said with a grin on "Good Morning America" Monday.
Biden is head of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and would bring strong international credentials to the Democratic ticket.
He is a forceful debater and "would appeal to working class Catholics in places like Pennsylvania and New Jersey," Stephanopoulos said.
On the negative side, Biden would be seen as a Washington insider.
"Obama is not looking for that," Stephanopoulos told "GMA," since it would clash with Obama's theme of change. And the voluable Biden has been afflicted in the past with "foot-in-mouth disease," Stephanopoulos said.
