Biden Stock Rising?

From the Sun-Times' Lynn Sweet:

I'm just passing on the latest I'm hearing--that Sen. Joe Biden (D-Del.) is moving up on the list of potential running mates for presumptive Democratic nominee Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.). While Obama's heart may go towards Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine--his head takes him to a more experienced pick, a Sen. Evan Bayh (D-Ind.) or Biden, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

On paper, Biden seems -- to me at least -- like the perfect No. 2 man for Obama: An elder statesman with vast experience as well as the ability to play attack dog. Following Jim Webb's departure from the veepstakes, I've been waiting for the Biden bandwagon to get going. But we all know that Joe Biden is Joe Biden: A colorful politician who's been his own worst enemy on the national stage.

Still, it's a sign that the Obama campaign is really considering its weaknesses if Sweet's reporting is accurate.
