Rhode Island Sen. Jack Reed says he's not interested in being the running mate of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.Reed said Monday in East Providence that he's a bit surprised with the swirling speculation over whether he could be chosen to run as vice president on a Democratic ticket. That speculation increased after Obama said Reed and Republican Sen. Chuck Hagel of Nebraska, both military veterans, would accompany him to Iraq and Afghanistan sometime this summer.
Reed joins a growing list of prominent Democrats to say "No, thank you" to the No. 2 job even before it was offered. Maybe Clinton will be the only one left?First, as The Ticket reported, Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland, a Clinton supporter, was adamant no. Then, Virginia, it was Sen. Jim Webb, a former Republican.

"Get out of the race just before summer so you can spend some time with the family at the beach."
"He (McCain) and I have never talked about that," said Jindal when asked if he was being considered for the Number Two spot during a programme on Fox News."I am happy to be governor of Louisiana and happy to support him," he remarked.
