Barack Obama's presidential campaign has requested information from Democratic Sen. Chris Dodd as part of its search for a possible vice presidential candidate.

The former White House hopeful and Connecticut lawmaker indicated Wednesday that he has been approached by the campaign. "There's been some inquiries, yeah," Dodd said. "They ask for a lot of stuff. I'll leave it there."

"I have not been asked to provide any documents or information to the McCain campaign," Pawlenty said as he headed into a noontime speech to an energy conservation group at the St. Paul Hotel. He also said he hasn't authorized anyone to provide information about him to the campaign.

Republicans want John McCain to pick a strong conservative to be his vice presidential running mate and Democrats want Barack Obama to pick someone with economic or military and foreign policy experience, according to a new nationwide poll conducted by Clarus Research Group, a nonpartisan survey firm based in Washington, DC.
