DCCC not finished yet

The forgotten race of Election Night was in Louisiana’s Fourth District, where the general election was postponed because of Hurricane Ike and party runoffs were held instead.

The seat, held by retiring Rep. Jim McCrery (R-La.) is a prime Democratic target. And now that the nominees have been chosen, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee isn’t wasting any time in attacking the newly-minted GOP nominee, physician John Fleming.

The DCCC is up with its first ad buy, attacking Fleming for supporting President Bush's past proposal to partially privatize Social Security and for supporting a FairTax, which Democrats argue would raise taxes for middle-class Americans.

“John Fleming wants tax cuts for millionaires like himself, and tax hikes for the middle class,” the ad says. “What’s good for Fleming is bad for Louisiana.”

Fleming is facing Democrat Paul Carmouche, the district attorney in Caddo Parish. Carmouche was one of the party’s leading recruits.
