The flippers

All told, 58 members of the House who voted against the initial $700 billion bailout bill decided to support the amended legislation today.  The majority of vulnerable members continued to oppose the legislation, but a handful changed their mind in today's vote.

Here are the members of Congress facing competitive re-elections who flipped:

Rep. Vern Buchanan (R-Fla.)
Rep. Charlie Dent (R-Pa.)
Rep. Jim Gerlach (R-Pa.)
Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.)
Rep. Joe Knollenberg (R-Mich.)
Rep. John "Randy" Kuhl (R-N.Y.)
Rep. Harry Mitchell (D-Ariz.)
Rep. John Shadegg (R-Ariz.)
Rep. John Yarmuth (D-Ky.)

Rep. Jim McDermott (D-Wash.) was the only member of Congress to oppose the legislation today after voting for the original bill on Monday.

And while 20 of the 38 members of the Congressional Black Caucus voted against the original legislation, the vast majority of the caucus supported the bill today.
