A convicted embezzler who snagged a $9.1 million business tax credit from the state of Michigan and appeared on stage with Gov. Jennifer Granholm has been arrested on a parole violation.

Michigan Department of Corrections spokesman Russ Marlan confirmed that RASCO CEO Richard A. Short was arrested Wednesday.

The 57-year-old Short shared the stage Tuesday with Granholm as she as she introduced the leaders of companies awarded $55 million in tax credits.

Authorities say they arrested Short after learning he was the CEO of a company and had not told his parole officer he was working. He owes $96,000 in restitution from fraud convictions.

Short did not respond to phone messages seeking comment.
