Ex-Detroit mayor arraigned on probation violation

Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick has been arraigned on a probation violation and released on a $10,000 personal bond pending another hearing.

A Wayne County Circuit Court judge entered a not guilty plea on Kilpatrick's behalf on Tuesday.

The judge ordered Kilpatrick to stay in Michigan until Thursday's hearing, when he rules on a defense motion to remove another judge from the case.

One of Kilpatrick's attorneys claims that judge, David Groner, is biased against his client.

Groner previously ordered Kilpatrick to make a $79,011 payment by Feb. 19 toward the $1 million he owes the city as part of his guilty plea to an obstruction of justice charge.

Kilpatrick, who now lives in the Dallas area, recently paid $41,000.
