Recalls: children's forks and spoons, chicken base

The following recalls have been announced:

_About 127,000 Scooby Doo, Tweety and Batman fork and spoon sets, made in China by Peachtree Playthings of Atlanta, because the fork's two middle prongs can detach, posing a choking hazard to children. The company received one report of a middle prong detaching from the fork. No injuries have been reported. The recall includes plastic fork and spoon sets with cartoon images on the handle. _Castella Imports is recalling certain lots of Castella chicken base, which is used to make chicken soup, because it could be contaminated with salmonella, an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children and others with weakened immune systems. No illnesses have been reported to date, according to the Hauppauge, N.Y., company. The recalled chicken base was sold in 1-pound jars at retail stores nationwide. _Tim's Cascade Snacks is recalling certain code dates of two products: Hawaiian Kettle Style Potato Chips in Sweet Maui Onion flavor as well as Hawaiian Sweet Maui Onion Rings. They could be contaminated with salmonella, an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children and others with weakened immune systems. No illnesses have been reported, according to the Algona, Wash., company. The products were distributed nationwide and in Canada through retail stores, distributors, direct delivery and Internet sales.
