Lil Wayne prepares for jail term in NYC gun case

The Associated Press

Rap star Lil Wayne is leaving his fans and fellow artists with a video blitz as he braces for as much as a year behind bars at the height of his career.

The rapper is expected to begin his New York City jail term Tuesday after pleading guilty to attempted weapons possession. He said in a video clip sent Monday to MTV News that he shot footage for seven music videos with various artists in one night this past weekend.

The 27-year-old rapper entered his plea in October. He admitted having a loaded gun on his tour bus in July 2007.

He could end up serving only about eight months with good behavior.

He has become one of rap's biggest names and music's biggest sellers in recent years. His "Tha Carter III" was the best-selling album of 2008.
