50 arrested in what police call race war in Calif.

The Associated Press

Fifty people have been arrested in a crackdown of two Southern California gangs that were engaged in what authorities call a deadly race war.

The multi-agency bust culminated Wednesday with 20 people being charged who were either alleged associates or members of a Hispanic gang in Riverside controlled by the Mexican Mafia.

Thirty other suspects were connected to a gang with primarily black members.

Authorities say both gangs were involved in violent crimes and targeted one another. They say the Hispanic gang ordered members to attack and kill rivals.
