The vice president's mother died Friday after a brief illness. A crowd of about 700 people are gathering to remember her in the sanctuary at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Wilmington.
Guests include President Barack Obama, former President Bill Clinton and several Cabinet officials and members of Congress.
The president and first lady met privately with the Biden family before the funeral began.
